HOME ADDITIONS
The national average investment for a home addition generally starts at $190 per
square foot and up. Finishes ultimately dictate the ultimate cost. Whirlpool tubs, walk-in showers,
use of stone finishes, etc. can quickly cause the "cost per square foot" to increase.

Why use a Designer to plan your project?
For most households, their home is their greatest financial asset. In fact, utilizing
a qualified Designer can save you thousands of dollars in the long run by identifying design ideas and functionality
well before construction begins. In most instances, city and county municipalities are requiring a detailed set of plans
prior to issuing the required permits.
Information for obtaining financing.
Many of our clients opt to obtain a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), or in some instances,
clients have discovered that the mortgage rate they are currently paying is higher than what is now available so they
have opted to refinance their current mortgage.

R&D Construction works closely with a reputable and knowledgeable Designer, Jim Allen,
who assists our clients to achieve their goals and create a clear vision for our construction team. Prior to attaining
his degree in design, Mr. Allen was a residential contractor for nearly 15 years in Seattle. This experience is crucial
to creating a design that fits within an agreed upon budget right from the beginning.
When a propective client requests a free in-home consultation, Mr. Allen will schedule an
appointment to review the vialbility of the project, make design suggestions, assist with establishing a budget and answer
preliminary questions.
Mr. Allen will also indicate, during that visit, the nominal investment required to begin
drawing up "construction documents". The first step is to create 3 dimensional computer renderings that show you
existing home as well as the new addition design. The design is continually updated and changed based on your input
and approval.
Once design approval is given, we will then provide a "fixed cost" detailed proposal for completing
your project as designed.
This process keeps our clients in the driver's seat, provides the most control and options
and gives our clients time to make important decisions and an opportunity to get to know our team prior to commiting to the
project in its entirety.
